Filmmaker - Actress - CrossFit Coach
Tell us about yourself! What do you do? And what are you passionate about?
I'm a film maker, actress, and CrossFit coach. I love to make people laugh. I whole-heartedly agree with the slogan that laughter is the best medicine. I made a family friendly movie last year about gymnastics that combined all of these loves called Chalk It Up! I help people get or stay in shape which is really rewarding because I know it's helping them to lead a longer healthier life.
Describe a specific moment when you positively impacted the world (someone's life, the environment, animals, etc.) and how it made you feel.
I was a caregiver to a woman with Multiple Sclerosis for a year. I watched her slowly deteriorate until she couldn't walk or talk and eventually passed away, which was by far the saddest thing I've ever experienced. Allyson was so full of life and energy through the whole process. I'm glad I was there to be able and help give her mother a little bit of her own life through this time. I fed Allyson, I literally carried her to the bathroom, slept over when her mother had to do nursing seminars, and did my best to make her laugh every day.
What future plans do you have to continue making a positive impact in the world?
I plan to donate a gymnastic's scholarship to the University of North Carolina so that the program continues to thrive and influence young girls lives in a positive way, like it did mine. I plan to write and act in a TV show that also has a moral compass making people want to be better for one another.
Recap a time someone has done a random act of kindness for you?
There have been so many, but my mom has probably done the most random acts of kindness and I think that's been a huge influence on me. She sent me random care packages all through college. She flew out the next day after a bad break up while I was a seventh grade teacher to be with me. She sends me little cards here and there telling me she misses me. She's incredibly supportive of my acting career and lets me know how long it took other actors to make it so that I never feel discouraged. I feel like she does a random act of kindness every week. She's an amazing mom.
Who is your most inspiring #WorldChanger and why?
I think right now my inspiring #WorldChanger would be my old roommate Andrea Ager. She's a Christian spreading God's love and a competitive CrossFitter and she's ALWAYS happy. Andrea knows no stranger. Coming home to her was like coming home to a puppy dog that loves you no matter what. She's free, she's passionate and she's incredibly driven. She wants to compete in the CrossFit Games and I hope dearly that it happens for her, because I've never seen someone work quite so hard or inspire so many people along their journey to their goal.
What advice do you have for someone who aspires to be a #WorldChanger?
Start now. You are never too old to start living your dreams and changing the world. I doubt Andrea knew that just by posting all of her workout pictures and telling her story that one day almost three hundred thousand people would start following her and looking forward to her posts. People have tol her about life changing experiences of weight loss and quitting addictions because they love her messages. Be kind to others and know that even little things like holding a door can put people in a good mood and foster positive energy in the world.
Where can we follow what you're doing?
